No doubt about it, Miley Cyrus is one of the hottest young celebrities of today's generation. She catapulted to stardom via the hit Disney Channel tv series Hannah Montana, in which she plays a regular teenage girl with a secret life of a pop star.

Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Miley is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Her early career was marked by minor roles, the first of which was playing a girl named Kylie on her father's tv show Doc. At the age of 12, she auditioned for the role of "best friend" in a Disney Channel series about a "secret pop star", entitled Hannah Montana. Disney Channel executives at first judged her to be too young, but her persistence resulted in her being called back for further auditions and she eventually won the lead role.

Hannah Montana was a hit among children and teenagers, leading Miley to a successful career in music and film. In 2008, she was listed in Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World. Forbes magazine ranked her #35 on the "Celebrity 100" list for earning $25 million in 2008 and in 2009, her rank improved to #29. She was also ranked number four on Billboard's list of the Top Female Artists of 2009, above artists such as Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson.
