Early Edition tv show Early Edition is a television series that aired on CBS from 1996 to 2000 and lasted for four seasons. Created by Ian Abrams, Patrick Q. Page, and Vik Rubenfeld, the show revolves around Gary Hobson (Kyle Chandler), a man who mysteriously receives each Chicago Sun-Times newspaper the day before it is actually published, and who uses this knowledge to prevent terrible events each day.

The series dealt with a common theme of time-travel dramas — the theory that changing the present produced potentially adverse consequences in the future. Its plot usually starts with Gary receiving the newspaper, apparently delivered by a ginger tabby cat, no matter where he goes every morning, except on some special occasions. He would then try to prevent tragedies described in "tomorrow's" Sun-Times from occurring, whereby story text and headlines in the newspaper change to reflect the outcome of his actions.

Set in the city of Chicago, Illinois, Early Edition featured many real Chicago locations over the course of the series' run.

Popular was a teenage comedy-drama on The WB Television Network in the United States, created by Ryan Murphy and Gina Matthews. It starred Leslie Bibb and Carly Pope as two teenage girls that reside on polar opposite sides of the popularity spectrum at their high school, but are forced to co-exist when their single parents randomly meet on a cruise ship and get married. The tv show, which was a hit with The WB's teenage audience, ran for two seasons from 1999 to 2001. It even won at the Teen's Choice Award for Choice Breakout Show for television (2000).

The tv series revolves around Sam McPherson (Pope) and Brooke McQueen (Bibb), students at Jacqueline Kennedy High School. Brooke is a popular cheerleader, and Sam is an unpopular journalist. Their respective groups are forced to socialize when Brooke's father and Sam's mother get engaged, and the two girls reluctantly begin sharing a house.

Despite fitting into a rather common category, as a teen-centered mix of drama and comedy, Popular differentiated itself from its peers in its quirky, non sequitur humor and overall satirical approach to characters and story lines, a feature that would grow as the series progressed.
