Six Feet Under tv showSix Feet Under is an American drama, originally broadcast on HBO from 2001 to 2005. The tv show, with its title being a colloquialism for death (six feet being the traditional depth at which a body would be laid), centers on a family-run mortuary, Fisher and Sons Funeral Home, and explores the lives of the Fisher family following the death of their father.

The series received much critical acclaim and praise, winning three Golden Globe awards and nine Emmy awards during the course of its run. It also also won the Screen Actors Guild award for Best Ensemble for a Drama Series two years in a row (2003 and 2004).

Set in modern-day Los Angeles, most of the scenes are in the family owned and operated Fisher and Sons Funeral Home. The family resides on the upper floors of the funeral home. The main floor is used for the business as viewing and chapel rooms, while the basement is for the embalming and body preparation areas.

The concept of Six Feet Under focuses on human mortality and the lives of those who deal with it on a daily basis. Throughout its 5-season, 63-episode run, major characters experience crises which are in direct relation to their environment. According to creator Allan Ball, Six Feet Under refers not only to being buried as a dead body is buried, but to primal emotions and feelings running under the surface.

The Twilight Zone tv showThe Twilight Zone is a television anthology series created and often written by its narrator and host Rod Serling. Each episode (156 in the original series) is a self-contained fantasy, science fiction, or horror story, often concluding with an eerie or unexpected twist.

Through its course from 1959 to 1964, the tv show had focused on ordinary folks who suddenly found themselves in extraordinary and supernatural situations. The stories would typically end with an ironic twist that would see the guilty punished.

A popular and critical success, The Twilight Zone introduced many Americans to serious science fiction and abstract ideas through television and also through a wide variety of literature.

The success of this original series led to the creation of two revival series (a cult hit series that ran for several seasons in the 1980s, and a short-lived series that ran early in the new millennium), a feature film, a radio series, a comic book, a magazine, and various other spin-offs that would span five decades.
